My parents got divorced. Where can I get help?

A lot of children’s parents get divorced. Usually, it means that mum and dad move don’t live together anymore, and you end up having two homes. It can feel strange to have so many sudden changes in your life and having to adjust to new routines can be hard. If you’re looking for information or wondering where to get help, this page is meant for you.

Chats for children and teenagers

You can join any of the chats below to talk to someone about your parents’ divorce or anything else you’d like to talk about.  

 Children’and Teenagers’ chat 

The Federation of Mother and Child Shelters (ETKL) chat is meant for children and teenagers under 18. You can join the chat to talk about anything on your mind, for example your parents’ divorce.

The chat is open from Monday to Friday from 3pm to 5pm and you can easily access the chat through the link on the bottom right of the page.

  

Children’s and Teenagers’ chat 

The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare hosts a chat for children and teenagers on their web page.

The chat is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm to 8pm.

  

Apuu -chat 

SOS – Lapsikylä hosts a chat for 7-15 year olds 7 days a week from 9am to 10pm.

 

Children’s and teenagers’ helpline

The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare provides a free telephone helpline. You can use the helpline to talk about your parent’s divorce or anything else troubling you.

The helpline is open from 2pm to 8pm on Monday to Friday and 5pm to 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
